This page explains the basic categories of information National Course Portal uses to operate the site, support students, and maintain course and certificate records.

Last updated: May 12, 2026

What we collect

We collect the information needed to help you enroll, sign in, complete your course, and verify certificates when those features are available for your state or course type. This applies to all course categories we offer, including driver improvement, parent education and family stabilization, anger management education, boating safety, and any other course types added in the future.

That may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, license or student-identification details, court or case reference information, course progress, assessment results, certificate information, and support messages.

How we use it

We use your information to provide course access, process payments, respond to support questions, maintain course records, and issue or verify certificates where permitted.

We may also use basic technical data such as device, browser, and log information to keep the site secure and working properly.

Payments and service providers

Payments may be handled by third-party processors. We receive the records we need to confirm your purchase, but we do not store full payment-card numbers on this site.

We also use service providers for website hosting, email delivery, and certificate or account support.

Certificate and course records

Some courses require us to keep course-completion or certificate records for support, verification, regulatory, or provider-review purposes.

Retention periods can vary by course type, state requirements, and operational needs.

Your choices

You can contact us if you need help updating account details, correcting information, or understanding what records relate to your course activity.

You may request deletion of your personal information by emailing admin@nationalcourseportal.com with the subject line "Deletion Request" from the email address on file. We review deletion requests in light of legal obligations, court orders, fraud-prevention needs, and regulatory retention requirements. Some records may be retained in anonymized or redacted form where required by law.

If a course has state-specific rules, those rules may affect what changes can be made after completion or certificate issuance.

Third-party service providers

We use the following third-party service providers to operate the platform: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Google (optional account sign-in), Vercel (website hosting), and LOB (certificate mail fulfillment, where applicable).

Each provider receives only the data necessary to perform its function. We do not sell personal information to any third party.

Data retention

We retain student account, identity, course-activity, and certificate records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain support and fraud-prevention records, and satisfy legal, court, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations.

Some course-specific records may need to be kept for fixed minimum periods. For example, certain Virginia completion records may need to be maintained for at least three years.

Students may request access to or correction of their records by emailing admin@nationalcourseportal.com with the subject line "PII Request" from the email address on file.

Student records requests

Students may contact us to request access to, correction of, or clarification about records associated with their course, certificate, or account activity.

We review those requests under the laws and contractual requirements that apply to the specific course, state, and record type.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

National Course Portal does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Our courses — including driver improvement, parent education, anger management, and boating safety courses — are designed for adults, licensed drivers, or persons meeting the minimum age requirement set by the applicable state or regulatory body.

If a state-approved course permits enrollment by minors, enrollment must be initiated by a parent or legal guardian, and the parent or guardian is responsible for supervising the minor's use of the platform.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at admin@nationalcourseportal.com.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies required for login, language preference, and session management. These cookies are necessary for the site to function and cannot be disabled.

We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site, including page views, session duration, and general device/browser information. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Social Security Number handling

We collect Social Security Numbers (SSNs) or the last four digits of an SSN only when required by state law or regulation for specific course types, such as Washington MAST server permits and certain Florida driver courses.

SSNs are encrypted in transit via TLS and are submitted directly to the applicable state agency as required by that agency's reporting process.

After successful submission to the state agency, SSN data is removed from our provider records. We do not retain SSNs beyond the submission window.

Access to SSN data before submission is limited to authorized staff with a direct operational need for the state-agency reporting process.

Data security practices

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), secure hosting infrastructure with access controls, and authentication safeguards for account and administrative access.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data breach notification

If a data breach affecting your personal information requires notice, we will provide notice without unreasonable delay and as required by applicable law.

Notifications will describe the nature of the breach, the types of information involved, steps you can take to protect yourself, and how to contact us for questions.

California privacy requests (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may contact us and ask us to review whether any privacy rights apply to your information under California law. Applicability depends on the data involved, our role in processing it, any statutory exemptions, and whether the law reaches our operations.

Where California law applies, residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain sensitive-personal-information uses, and avoid discrimination for exercising applicable rights.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising. To submit a California privacy request, email admin@nationalcourseportal.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request."
