Course purpose
Mississippi's one-time annuity training a producer must complete before selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuities. It teaches the best-interest standard of 19 Miss. Admin. Code Part 2, Chapter 18 (Suitability in Annuity Transactions; best-interest duties at Rule 18.06, one-time 4-credit producer training at Rule 18.07) (the NAIC 2020 Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation, effective January 1, 2022 (applicable to conduct on or after July 1, 2022)) and its four obligations - care, disclosure, conflict of interest, and documentation - plus annuity types and classifications, the parties to an annuity, product features, the income taxation of qualified and non-qualified annuities, the primary uses of annuities, and appropriate standards of conduct, sales practices, replacement, and disclosure, with Mississippi's unfair trade practices law (Miss. Code Ann. §§ 83-5-29 to 83-5-51 (unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts; prohibition at § 83-5-33)) and producer discipline (Miss. Code Ann. § 83-17-71 (Licensing of Insurance Producers, Title 83, Chapter 17, Article 2)) - with lesson knowledge checks, a final exam, a certificate, and CE reported to Mississippi Insurance Department through Sircon (Vertafore).
