Course purpose
Montana's one-time annuity training a producer must complete before selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuities. It teaches the best-interest standard (MCA 33-20-807 (producer training) and 33-20-805 (best-interest obligations), Part 8 (Suitability in Annuity Transactions), enacted by SB 363 (2021), adopting the NAIC 2020 best-interest revisions (Model #275), effective October 1, 2021) and its four obligations - care, disclosure, conflict of interest, and documentation - plus annuity types and classifications, the parties to an annuity, product features, the income taxation of qualified and non-qualified annuities, the primary uses of annuities, and appropriate standards of conduct, sales practices, replacement, and disclosure, with the Montana Unfair Trade Practices Act (MCA Title 33, Chapter 18; unfair claim settlement practices MCA 33-18-201) and the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI), Office of the Montana State Auditor discipline (MCA Title 33, Chapter 17) - with lesson knowledge checks, a final exam, a certificate, and CE reporting.
