Course purpose
South Dakota's initial long-term care producer training required before soliciting, selling, or negotiating long-term care insurance (ARSD art. 20:06). It teaches LTC fundamentals and benefit design; the federal tax-qualified standard; suitability, underwriting, inflation protection, and replacement; and the required training topics, including the South Dakota Long-Term Care Partnership Program and its dollar-for-dollar Medicaid asset disregard. It explains South Dakota Medicaid — administered by the South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) — and the Partnership's relationship to Medicaid eligibility; and the Unfair Trade Practices of SDCL ch. 58-33 with South Dakota Division of Insurance discipline (SDCL ch. 58-30). Lesson knowledge checks, a final exam, a certificate, and CE reported to the Division through SBS. Delivered as a bilingual online 8-hour course.
