Course purpose

Tennessee's one-time initial long-term care training a producer must complete before selling, soliciting, or negotiating long-term care insurance. It teaches LTC fundamentals and benefit design, the tax-qualified standard of IRC § 7702B, inflation protection and nonforfeiture, suitability, underwriting and replacement, and the consumer protections of Tennessee's long-term care insurance law, T.C.A. § 56-42-109 and Title 56, Chapter 42 (Long-Term Care Insurance Act). The Tennessee portion covers the State Long-Term Care Partnership Program (Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-01-61) authorized by the DRA 2005, the dollar-for-dollar Medicaid asset disregard administered by TennCare (the Division of TennCare), the five-year look-back and IRC § 1035 exchanges, unfair trade practices under the Unfair Trade Practices and Unfair Claims Settlement Act of 2009 (T.C.A. § 56-8-104), the producer licensing and discipline framework of the Insurance Producer Licensing Act of 2002 (T.C.A. § 56-6-112 / § 56-6-125), senior protection, and the NAIC LTC Model framework - with lesson knowledge checks, a final exam, a certificate, and CE reporting to Tennessee through the TDCI. Tennessee does not mandate any state-specific hours within the training. Delivered as a bilingual online 8-hour course.
