Course purpose
Bilingual online 8-hour course satisfying Virginia's one-time initial long-term care training a producer must complete before selling, soliciting, or negotiating long-term care insurance, with at least 2 hours of Virginia-specific content. It teaches LTC fundamentals and benefit design, the tax-qualified standard of IRC § 7702B, inflation protection and nonforfeiture, suitability, underwriting and replacement, and the consumer protections of the Virginia Rules Governing Long-Term Care Insurance (14VAC5-200). The Virginia-specific portion covers the State Long-Term Care Partnership Program (14VAC5-200-205) authorized by the DRA 2005, the dollar-for-dollar Medicaid asset disregard administered by DMAS through local DSS, the five-year look-back, unfair trade practices under the Code of Virginia (§ 38.2-502, § 38.2-509, § 38.2-512, § 38.2-1831), senior protection, and the NAIC LTC Model framework - with lesson knowledge checks, a final exam, a certificate, and CE reporting to Virginia through the provider.
